About KCMC University
Formerly known as Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College (KCMUCo), KCMC University stands as a prestigious center of medical and health sciences education in Tanzania. Established in 1997 as a constituent college of Tumaini University (TUMA), the institution was founded by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) and the Good Samaritan Foundation (GSF) to address the critical shortage of qualified healthcare professionals in the country.
KCMUCo quickly distinguished itself through excellence in teaching, research, and service. In 2021, the institution earned full accreditation from the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU), cementing its status as a leader in medical education.
On March 1, 2025, KCMUCo was officially upgraded to KCMC University, a reflection of its expanded academic capacity, robust research framework, and national impact.
