2025/2026 Academic Year Scholarship Announcement
The Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by the Bank of Tanzania on 12th October 2009, commemorates the great achievements of the Father of our Nation, Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere. It is primarily dedicated to sponsoring undergraduate female students with outstanding academic achievement to pursue Science and Mathematics studies in Tanzanian accredited universities, aiming to promote academic excellence in these fields. The Fund also sponsors male and female Tanzanians to pursue undergraduate studies in Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting, and Finance. Additionally, it supports the best Tanzanian undergraduate students, both male and female, to undertake master’s degree programs in the aforementioned fields.
The scholarships are awarded based on academic merit and a rigorous selection process. Successful applicants receive a full scholarship covering all university direct costs (tuition fees, etc.) and student direct costs (meals, accommodation, books, stationery allowance, field practical training, special faculty requirements, etc.) as specified in the respective institutions’ cost structures, including a brand-new laptop computer.
Scholarship Categories and Requirements
Undergraduate Scholarships (Seven Scholarships)
The Undergraduate Scholarships are granted to top performers in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary
Education Examinations (ACSEE) to pursue undergraduate degree programs in two categories:
Category A: Science and Mathematics Studies (Female Students Only)
Applications for scholarships under this category are for female candidates only and applicants shall be required to meet the following criteria:
Applicant must be a female Tanzanian citizen who has completed Advanced Level Secondary School Education (ACSEE) in 2025.
Applicant must be a female student with outstanding academic achievement (Division One) at ACSEE in Science or Mathematics subjects in the 2025 Advanced Level Secondary School Examinations.
Applicant must have applied/be admitted to a full-time bachelor’s degree program in an accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania.
The program should commence in the 2025/2026 academic year in the field of Science or Mathematics.
Category B: Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, Economics, Accounting, and Finance Studies (Male and Female Students)
Applications for scholarships under this category are open to both male and female students and shall be required to meet the following criteria:
Applicant must be a male or female Tanzanian citizen who has completed Advanced Level Secondary School Education in 2025.
Applicant must be a student with outstanding academic achievement (Division One) at 2025 ACSEE in Science, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, and Accounting subjects in the Advanced Level Secondary School Examinations.
Applicant must have applied/be admitted to a full-time bachelor’s degree program in an accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania.
The program should commence in the 2025/2026 academic year in any of the following fields: Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting, or Finance.
Master’s Degree Programs (Three Scholarships)
The Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund announces ten fully funded scholarship opportunities for the 2025/2026 academic year. The master’s degree scholarships are open to both female and male best students who are to enroll in master’s degree programs in the fields of Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting, and Finance.
Requirements:
Applicant must be a Tanzanian citizen and must not be more than thirty-five (35) years of age.
Applicant must have obtained First Class or Upper Second Class (honors) in the bachelor’s degree with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) score of 4.0 from an accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania.
Applicant should have completed a bachelor’s degree in studies related to Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting, or Finance.
Applicant must have applied/be admitted to a full-time master’s degree program in an accredited university within the United Republic of Tanzania.
The program should commence in the 2025/2026 academic year in any of the following fields: Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting, or Finance.
