JUDICIAL SERVICE COMMISSION

JOB VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT

The Judicial Service Commission is an institution established under Article 112(1) of the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania of 1977. In addition, Article 113 of the Constitution and the Judiciary Administration Act, Chapter 237, give the Judicial Service Commission various responsibilities, including recruiting staff of the Judiciary of Tanzania in different cadres.

Therefore, the Judicial Service Commission invites Tanzanians with the qualifications specified below for each job position, and who are willing to work in the Judiciary of Tanzania in various Regions and Districts, to submit their applications.

1.0 Resident Magistrate II – TJS II

1.1 Entry Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) or Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSE), a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from recognized Universities or Higher Learning Institutions, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania. Applicants with computer training certificates will be given priority.

1.2 Duties:

(i) Prepare plans for hearing preliminary Criminal and Civil cases;

(ii) Hear preliminary Criminal and Civil cases;

(iii) Hear preliminary marriage and probate cases;

(iv) Prepare and issue judgments on all matters handled;

(v) Issue various court orders as permitted by law;

(vi) Mediate disputes;

(vii) Hear appeals from Ward Tribunals;

(viii) Conduct legal research and provide advice;

(ix) Perform any other duties assigned by their supervisor.

2.0 Human Resources Officer II – TGS E

2.1 Entry Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Degree in Human Resources Management, Human Resources Planning, Labour Relations, Public Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Commerce specializing in Human Resources, or any related field from recognized institutions.

2.2 Duties:

(i) Maintain accurate staff records;

(ii) Interpret and implement staff structures;

(iii) Research, analyze, plan and estimate staff training needs;

(iv) Collect, analyze, and organize staff planning data and statistics;

(v) Handle routine staff matters.

3.0 Accountant II – TGS E

3.1 Entry Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Arts majoring in Accounting or an Advanced Diploma in Accounting from a recognized institution, together with the CPA(T) qualification or its equivalent recognized by NBAA.

3.2 Duties:

(i) Prepare income and expenditure reports;

(ii) Prepare revenue reports;

(iii) Receive Government revenue and bank it promptly;

(iv) Reconcile bank accounts and other financial matters;

(v) Verify payment vouchers.

4.0 Assistant Supplies Officer I – TGS C

4.1 Entry Qualifications:

A Diploma in Procurement/Supplies or Business specializing in Procurement and Supplies from a recognized institution, or an equivalent qualification recognized by PSPTB. Must be registered as a Procurement and Supplies Full Technician and possess computer skills.

4.2 Duties:

(i) Arrange and maintain stores neatly and safely;

(ii) Receive goods purchased from suppliers;

(iii) Receive used items pending disposal;

(iv) Open and maintain Bin Cards;

(v) Maintain Ledger records for store items;

(vi) Issue goods to users according to procedures;

(vii) Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

5.0 Procurement Officer II – TGS D

5.1 Entry Qualifications:

A Degree/Advanced Diploma in Procurement/Supplies or PSPTB Professional Level III, recognized by PSPTB, and registered as a Graduate Procurement and Supplies Professional.

5.2 Duties:

(i) Participate in preparing tender advertisements;

(ii) Distribute tender documents;

(iii) Communicate with departments on procurement needs;

(iv) Collect and maintain market price data;

(v) Verify all claims before payment;

(vi) Perform other professional duties assigned by the supervisor.

6.0 Supplies Officer II – TGS D

6.1 Entry Qualifications:

Same as Procurement Officer II (above).

6.2 Duties:

(i) Prepare schedules of required goods;

(ii) Establish receiving procedures;

(iii) Collect and maintain receiving and distribution data;

(iv) Supervise receiving, storage and distribution of goods;

(v) Design storage location index systems.

7.0 Computer Operator II – TGS C

7.1 Entry Qualifications:

A Diploma in Computer Studies from a recognized institution and at least three years of relevant experience.

7.2 Duties:

(i) Handle complex computer operations;

(ii) Adjust work schedules in the computer room;

(iii) Maintain daily computer operation logs;

(iv) Store all input data;

(v) Produce final reports;

(vi) Coordinate meeting preparations.

8.0 Office Management Secretary II – TGS C

8.1 Entry Qualifications:

Form IV/VI graduates with a Diploma or NTA Level 6 in Secretarial Studies, with typing speed of 100 words per minute in English and Swahili, and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Email, Publisher).

8.2 Duties:

(i) Type normal and confidential documents;

(ii) Receive visitors and direct them;

(iii) Maintain diaries, appointments, and records;

(iv) Retrieve files needed for work;

(v) Receive and distribute files;

(vi) Maintain and return records;

(vii) Prepare minutes and meeting arrangements.

9.0 Cook – TGS C

9.1 Entry Qualifications:

Form IV graduates with at least a one-year Certificate in Food Production from recognized institutions and at least three years of work experience.

9.2 Duties:

(i) Clean the kitchen;

(ii) Prepare normal meals.

10.0 Driver II – TGS B

10.1 Entry Qualifications:

Form IV certificate, Class E or C1 driving license with at least one year of experience without causing accidents, and Basic Driving Course from VETA or recognized institution. Trade Test Grade II holders will be considered first.

10.2 Duties:

(i) Inspect the vehicle before and after trips;

(ii) Transport staff for official duties;

(iii) Perform minor vehicle repairs;

(iv) Deliver and collect documents;

(v) Record all journeys in the logbook;

(vi) Clean the vehicle;

(vii) Perform other duties as directed.

11.0 Security Guard – TGOS A

11.1 Entry Qualifications:

Form IV graduates who passed English and Kiswahili, and completed training from JKT, Police, Fire and Rescue, Militia, or related recognized institutions.

11.2 Duties:

(i) Ensure all items leaving the office have authorization;

(ii) Ensure all items entering have valid documents;

(iii) Guard buildings and property day and night;

(iv) Ensure all doors and windows are secured after working hours;

(v) Ensure all visitors have clearance;

(vi) Respond to emergencies like fire and floods and notify authorities;

(vii) Advise on improving security services.

12.0 Office Attendant – TGOS A

12.1 Entry Qualifications:

Form IV graduates with short–course training in Office Attendant, Office Management, Messenger, or Office Clerk duties.

12.2 Duties:

(i) Clean offices and surroundings;

(ii) Collect and deliver files/documents;

(iii) Distribute official letters;

(iv) Prepare office tea;

(v) Handle postal mail;

(vi) Ensure office tools are properly placed;

(vii) Open and lock office doors;

(viii) Photocopy documents;

(ix) File copies of letters;

(x) Maintain office equipment.

13.0 Important Information for All Applicants

(i) Applicant must be a Tanzanian citizen;

(ii) All applications must be submitted electronically via www.jsc.go.tz (No hard copies);

(iii) When filling the application form, applicants must:

— Upload a signed application letter addressed to the Secretary, Judicial Service Commission, P.O. Box 2705, Dodoma;

— Upload all education certificates and transcripts;

— Upload birth certificate;

— Upload recent passport-size photo;

— Upload National ID (NIDA);

— Upload other documents as required.

(iv) These are new employment positions; existing public servants with permanent terms should not apply;

(v) Applicants must be aged between 18 and 45, with no criminal record;

(vi) Successful candidates will be posted anywhere in Tanzania;

(vii) Applicants with foreign certificates must have them verified by TCU/NACTE;

(viii) Applicants dismissed from public service should not apply;

(ix) Applications lacking required qualifications or failing to meet instructions will not be processed;

(x) Applicants who submit false information will be disqualified and face legal action;

(xi) Applicants with disabilities will be given priority and must specify their disability;

(xii) Applications not meeting all requirements will not be processed;
