About TANROADS
The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is responsible for the maintenance and development of trunk and regional roads across Tanzania Mainland. It also manages axle load control using weighbridge operations.
The Regional Manager of TANROADS Morogoro, on behalf of the Chief Executive, is seeking to hire qualified and experienced Tanzanians to work on major road projects in the region.
Available Projects:
1. Kidatu–Ifakara–Lupiro–Malinyi–Kilosa Kwa Mpepo–Londo–Lumecha/Songea (484km) – Lot 1: Ifakara–Lupiro–Mtimbira (112km)
2. Morogoro (Bigwa)–Mvuha Road (78km) – Including Ruvu (64m) & Mvuha (60m) bridges
3. Ifakara–Kihansi Road (124km) – Lot 2: Mbingu–Chita Section (37.5km)
Position Title: Resident Engineer
Number of Positions: 3
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a Registered Civil Engineer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
A Postgraduate qualification in Highway Engineering is an added advantage
At least 12 years of combined experience in civil works
Must have worked as a Resident Engineer or Project Manager on at least 3 bitumen road construction projects of similar size and complexity in the past 10 years
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Sub-Saharan Africa
Experience with FIDIC/PPRA Contract Administration is an advantage
Fluent in English (spoken and written)
Key Responsibilities:
Manage all site administration
Supervise contractors and force account operations
Oversee quality control and ensure compliance
Prepare and submit monthly progress reports
Review and process contractor payments
Monitor contract performance and manage timelines
Conduct site meetings and keep proper records
Ensure environmental and social impact measures are followed
Maintain detailed records including daily diaries, test reports, instructions, measurements, and correspondence
Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Project Manager
Terms of Employment:
Duration: 51 staff months
Salary: As per TANROADS salary scale with applicable site allowances according to the TANROADS Incentive Policy
Extra Positions:
Two (2) additional Resident Engineer posts are open for:
Morogoro (Bigwa)–Mvuha Road Project, or
Ifakara–Kihansi Road Project (Mbingu–Chita Section)
