Musoma District Council (MDC) is one of the eight Local Government Authorities in the Mara region of Tanzania, established on January 1, 1984. Strategically located between latitudes 1°30’ and 2°00’ south of the equator and longitudes 32°15’ and 30°15’ east of Greenwich, MDC serves as a crucial administrative and governance hub in the area. The total area of Musoma District is approximately 4,910 km², with land covering about 4,610 km². The remaining 300 km² is comprised of the waters of Lake Victoria, one of Africa’s largest freshwater lakes, which significantly contributes to the district’s economy and livelihoods. The council’s primary objectives include promoting socio-economic development, enhancing public service delivery, and ensuring effective governance within the district. MDC focuses on various sectors, including health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure development, aiming to improve the living standards of its residents.
